PLANNING THE SERVICE
The church wedding is a service of worship. The setting of the wedding should influence the conduct of all those in the wedding party. Only music that is appropriate for a church setting should be considered.
The pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Sallisaw will be in charge of all weddings. The pastor requires that the couple attend pre-marital counseling sessions in advance of the wedding date. It is also expected that the couple will attend worship during the course of the counseling sessions. Other ministers may only be invited to officiate or assist with the consent of the pastor. All those who schedule weddings at First United Methodist Church need to discuss their wedding plans with the pastor.
If the pastor does not officiate at the wedding, a member of the Board of Trustees must be present at the rehearsal and the ceremony.
