I was born and raised in El Dorado, Arkansas.  I graduated from Smackover High School in Smackover, Arkansas.  I have a BSE in Business Education from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas and an MSE in Business Education from the University of Arkansas.  I also have an EDD in Higher Education Leadership with an emphasis in Community Colleges from the U of A.
I worked in public schools for five years before moving to Poteau, Oklahoma.  I began my career at CASC in federal programs, moving to academics in 1999.  I was faculty, then division chair, moving to the position of Vice-President of Academic Affairs in 2003.  I remained in that position until I moved to Sallisaw in 2008 to assume the position of Vice-President of CASC at Sallisaw.
I have enjoyed getting to know the people and traditions at FUMC and look forward to being a part of the church for many years.

"I grew up 4 miles from Sallisaw at Shiloah Community and graduated from Sallisaw High School.  I received a graduate degree in counseling from Northeastern State College in Tahlequah.  I was a school counselor in Sapulpa and Bixby, and taught elementary school in Broken Arrow where I was chosen Teacher of the Year in 1985.
I have two daughters and sons-in-law.  Joyce and husband Garry Baskins have one daughter and live in Broken Arrow.  Lhonda and Steve Fedde have three children and live in Sallisaw.
I love beautiful flowers and having a small garden.
I love this church and friendly congregation.  I'm so glad to be a part of this wonderful group and place of worship."

"I was raised three miles from Nicut, Oklahoma.  I attended a two room school which was the Belfonte District.  In sixth grade I transferred to Muldrow.  After getting my degree at Northeastern in Tahlequah, I left to start my teaching career in California.
It was in California that I met my husband, a Wisonite.  After three years we moved to Wisconsin.  The winters were long and severe, and I never adapted to driving over icy roads.  I was happy to retire and refused to drive over icy roads again.
I have two sons, Mark and Michael, who reside near Minneapolis.  My only grandchild is Sara, age eleven.
I attended an American Baptist church in Hudson, Wisconsin for 33 years.  There are no American Baptists in this vicinity, so finding a church that was right for me was a challenge.
The members of First United Methodist Church in Sallisaw were very friendly each time I attended.  I found them to be a sincere and caring congregation, but at the same time they know how to have fun.  I have been impressed with the different activities that are provided.  I feel that I have had the support that I need from our pastor and the congregation.
It is my hope and prayer that I can use their examples to welcome newcomers into the church.  Thank you for accepting me into your church."
