Meet Our Staff
The staff of FUMC Sallisaw is dedicated to our mission, "Making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the World." They are representatives of the spirit that is present in our congregation.

Dr. Trevor Smith is senior pastor here at FUMC Sallisaw. Trevor brings a passion for our mission, "To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world," to every aspect of FUMC Sallisaw.
He grew up in Oklahoma City, and has been married to Allyson since 2008. They have a beautiful baby girl, Charlotte.
He served churches in Claremore, Norman, Waurika, and Temple before coming to Sallisaw in June of 2010.
Trevor earned his Bachelor's Degree at Oklahoma City University in History and Religion, and completed a Master of Divinity degree at Duke Divinity School in 2000. In 2008, he earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University.

Jennifer Hart is our Director of Youth and Children's Ministries. When you meet Jennifer, you can see her passion for sharing her love of Christ with the youth and children of our church. She leads by example.
Jennifer has years of experience working with children and youth and works tirelessly with our students of all ages. This summer she attended three church camps with youth and children of all ages.
Jennifer has an Associates Degree from Carl Albert State College. She and her husband John have three wonderful daughters, Katie, Karlee, and Karaline.

Keri Cousins is our Director of Music Ministry. Keri's love for what she does is evident, and she is dedicated to providing our congregation with rich and meaningful music for our worship services. She has a talent for being able to work with a variety of age groups and a variety of music styles.
Keri's home is Fort Smith, Arkansas. She grew up participating in the music ministry at FUMC in Ft. Smith. Keri holds a Music Education degree from the University of Central Arkansas. She teaches private voice, piano, and music theory lessons at Southtown Music in Ft. Smith. Keri has a three year old son, Aiden.

Sherry Gean is the friendly voice who answers the phone at First UMC. Sherry always has the answers to your questions or knows where to find them. She has been Church Secretary since 1998. Sherry has been a member of Sallisaw First United Methodist since 1994.
Besides her duties as church secretary, Sherry also works in the law office of her husband, David Gean. Sherry has a degree in accounting from the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith where she graduated in December 2008 summa cum laude.

Machell Trimble has been a member of FUMC Sallisaw since 1990, and in June of 2006, took on the task of keeping our church clean and welcoming. Machell keeps us looking good and is always smiling.
Machell was born and grew up in Sacramento, California, but has lived in Oklahoma since 1982. She has an Associates Degree in Child Development from Carl Albert State College.
She and her husband Dean have four children, Michael, Blythe, Kristi, and Nikki, who have grown up in this church. They also have 4 grandchildren.

Vickie Owen has been the pianist for FUMC Sallisaw since 2008. Vickie's talent and training are evident in her professionalism and eagerness to work with the various music groups at FUMC.
She studied classical organ technique and advanced music programs while earning an Associate degree from Bob Jones University in Greenville, Souch Carolina. She combines her early exposure to church music as a minister's daughter with many years of professional organ and piano performing experience.
Vickie and her husband, Mike Henson, have lived in Sallisaw for 10 years. Vickie's 3 adult children live in Roanoke, Virginia, Bear, Delaware, and Seattle, Washington. She is retired from a career in public and private accounting.

Bruce and Judy Grates are the warm, smiling faces you see when you leave your little ones in the nursery at FUMC. They have been caring for our children since 2002.
Bruce is retired from the USAF and works at Interior Malls as a marketing and computer head. Judy was born in Michigan and raised in New Jersey. She brings years of experience of caring for all ages to her position here.
Bruce & Judy's three children are all married. They have seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
